Digital technologies have radically changed our lives in recent decades. We therefore urgently need to talk about the impact on us as a society and re-evaluate the way we use them. With the European Platform for Digital Humanism, Ars Electronica and its partner institutions from research, industry and culture are participating in this debate of a digital society. After a brief introduction, Ars Electronica’s Veronika Liebl (European Cooperations) and Kristina Maurer (European Project, Festival/Prix/Exhibitions) will present the winning projects of the STARTS Prize 2021 of the European Commission as model projects of a Digital Humanism: Remix el Barrio, Food Waste Biomaterial Makers by Anastasia Pistofidou, Marion Real and The Remixers at Fab Lab Barcelona, IaaC (INT) and Oceans in Transformation by the Territorial Agency – John Palmesino and Ann-Sofi Rönnskog (INT).

The STARTS Prize has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 956603.
