“Embodied Ecologies” is a multi-year cooperation between the Interface Cultures Master’s programme (Linz University of Art), the Institute of Dance Arts (Anton Bruckner Private University) and Deep Space 8K (Ars Electronica Center). This time the students are also working together with the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
The performance that is being created within the framework of this cooperation refers to the latest research that Nobel Prize winner Prof. Dr. Anton Zeilinger has done in the field of quantum mechanics. The piece explores how quantum entanglement and emergent properties of space and time influence the ontology of bodies in performance art and how these issues communicate with feminist theory and philosophy (following the work of Karen Barad). This work is developed by students in the workshop “DJ QUANTUM”, led by transdisciplinary artist and researcher Smirna Kulenovic in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Christodoulou Marios (QISS Vienna), choreographer and dancer Damian Cortes-Alberti and costume designer Julia Moser.
