Organ of Radical Care: Una Matriz Colaborativa aims to grow a “collaborative uterus” from the menstrual blood of multiple women, trans, and non binary people, perhaps even incorporating ‘male’ cells.
A glass chalice has been designed for the endometrial cells. At this iteration the cells have come from anonymised uterus donors and the aim is simply to see if they can be kept alive in the chalice. In 2022 Charlotte and Patricia visited Tierra Del Fuego (the literal “end of the world”) with cells and biological material from the project.

The team is working to get ethical approval for the part of the project related to menstrual blood in Argentina, where abortion was only legalized in December 2020. It is important for the project to carry out the work in this context.
Organ of Radical Care: Una Matriz Colaborativa is currently on display at the Ars Electronica Center. At a presentation in the Ars Electronica Center’s Citizen Lab , artist Charlotte Jarvis and scientist Dr. Patricia Saragueta will discuss their experiences with the project, for which legal hurdles and scientific processes have to be overcome.
