Night of the family

Hands-on stations, presentations in the world’s only Deep Space 8K and a bear feeding session in the Bio Lab-this year, the Ars Electronica Center is focusing on the little things during Family Night. Tardi, the tardigrade, and his friends from the microcosm will be visiting exciting worlds of experience that focus on interaction with the exhibits. Touching is not forbidden here, but expressly permitted!

Workshop: The indicator worm

for children from 6 to 11 years old

Acidic, neutral or basic? Use ingredients from the molecular kitchen to make your own “indicator worm” that shows you which of these properties applies to a chemical solution by changing color in an experiment!

Which star is that? Stargazing with Dr. Dietmar Hager

Star photographer Dr. Dietmar Hager will give you insights into stargazing and show you which constellations you can see in the night sky above Linz.

Open Workshop: Tardis Buddies

Get Tardi and his buddies from the microcosm in front of the lens: with laser cutter scissor cuts, paper and transparencies, we expand the circle of friends and illuminate their physique with the help of light and polarizing filters.

Hands-On Topic Bionics: “Copied from nature”.

Yes, that’s right, we have bears at the Ars Electronica Center – lots of them, in fact! Our water bears, called tardigrades or tardigrades, are particularly interesting scientifically because they can cope with very adverse conditions.
