We want to hear your opinion!

Our workshops should inspire and motivate you – but do they really do that? Tell us!
We invite you to the Ars Electronica Center to learn more about your impressions of the Center. Tell us what inspires you and what works well or less well for you. For one day you can explore our museum and acquire new skills.

As part of the Europe-wide research project SySTEM 2020, 9-20 year olds are researching learning outside schools and universities, i.e. non-formal learning. 19 countries will work together for three years to evaluate their offer of non-formal workshops and educational programmes. The results of this evaluation will help Ars Electronica and its project partners develop new models for innovative learning and reach a new audience for science learning.

Program

Select one or more program items! In each round there is about 30 minutes time for feedback. The workshops for different age groups take place at the same time, choose the one you are most interested in.

Highlight-Tour and Deep Space 8K
1 PM-2:30 PM
for 9 to 20-year-olds
During the highlight tour, discover the new exhibitions in the Museum of the Future and experience high-resolution images, three-dimensional worlds and interactive experiences in Deep Space 8K on a projection screen of 16 x 9 metres!

Workshop: Superhirn & Denkerstirn
2:30 PM–5 PM
for 9 to 12-year-olds
“You gotta have something in your head!” students hear over and over again. And they have – quite a lot, in fact! It weighs about 1.2 kilograms, is electrically charged, constantly collects information and even gives orders. As brain researchers, the workshop participants design their own super brain device. In the end they are ready to let a drone take off with their thoughts.

Workshop: Von Hardware bis Weichteil
2:30 PM–5 PM
from the age of 11 up
What new body part would you create? Something functional or even fantastic, like a wing? Of a third thumb? The workshop is about experiments with soft robotics. This current development in robotics means that we can no longer think of technological elements as hardware with a hard shell – but rather made of softer, flexible materials. In this way, prostheses and body extensions can be thought and designed in a completely new way. And we do that too!

Workshop: AUTOnom
2:30 PM–5:30 PM
from the age of 11 up
Robots and machines are autonomous! Self-propelled cars can manoeuvre from A to B without human control. In doing so, they are repeatedly faced with complex situations. To cope with them, autonomous machines need artificial intelligence to help them become smarter. But how do machines even learn? In the workshop we will give insights into various control mechanisms of robotic devices. How computers can see and machines can learn can be explored in the Machine Learning Studio and become personal trainers of self-propelled cars.
