lmost exactly four years ago, after a large-scale thematic redesign, we opened the Ars Electronica Center under the general theme Compass – Navigating the Future. From being a telescope that opened up a view into the future, the Ars Electronica Center became a compass and companion from 2019 onwards and has since been “navigating” visitors through the technological developments and systems of the 21st century.
Four years later and enriched by the experiences of a pandemic that has also led to a massive digitalisation push in all areas of life, it is time to “recalibrate the compass”. The topics of Artificial Intelligence, Neuro-Bionics, Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology and the far-reaching global changes that we have already taken up in 2019 are more relevant today than ever before.
Explore the newly adapted exhibition areas in the Ars Electronica Center this weekend. Our info trainers will be on hand to give you advice and support. Try out the latest AI applications for yourself and find out what impact this technology could have on you personally and, by extension, on us as a society. During a lecture, Martina Mara, professor of robot psychology at Johannes Kepler University, will provide interesting psychological insights into the relationship between humans and smart machines. On Saturday evening, you can light up the 38,500 LEDs on the façade of the Ars Electronica Center yourself!
