British dancer/choreographer Aakash Odedra and Australian choreographer Lewis Major teamed up with Ars Electronica Futurelab to create a dance performance blending technology such as tracking, visualisations, projections and more.
Training initially in Kathak, Aakash’s performance experience relates to a wide range of dance styles. He is intensely interested in collaborating with different disciplines in order to elucidate his artistic vision in dance. Aakash and Lewis approached Ars Electronica Futurelab to explore the idea of warped and exaggerated realities and the confusion that a dyslexic person feels trying to make sense of language and literature. The main focus of the following joint R&D experiments was on how the physical experience of being dyslexic can be revealed through visuals, light, sound and movement. During the 2013 Ars Electronica festival, the outcome of this experiment series was presented under the title Resonate to a public audience for the first time.
In intimate work in progress sessions, the artists danced, explained and showed the upcoming work based on the storyboard and the musical score, enriched by interactive projections, wind-machine sculptured paper storms and murmurations of starling swarms.
