Municipality of Linz: Digital Skills Camp

A workshop program designed to familiarize new executives of the City of Linz Municipal Council with digitization initiatives and the impact of new technologies on our future society and economy.

Together with the team of the Municipality of Linz, the Future Thinking School 2022 developed and conducted an individual workshop program under the title Digital Skills Camp to familiarize new managers with existing internal digitization initiatives and to address the possible impact of new technologies on our future society and economy. In addition to the chatbot Elli and the geo-information system GiS, the digital twin of the city of Linz, the topic of data management, data protection and data security was also highlighted. Furthermore, the basics of artificial intelligence were taught and discussed how they (can) affect our society and economy.

In order to establish a closer connection to the tasks of the new managers, a fictitious case study using artificial intelligence in the citizen service of the city of Linz was finally debated. The different approaches of the participants have shown the complexity and the importance of clear rules in the application of new technologies.
