Asteroids – their number is estimated at several millions – have only been known for 220 years and can become a danger to life on earth on occasion. Comets on the other hand are true vagabonds of the skies that, after terrifying and scaring people in the past, now astonish and awe us. Erich Meyer will give the viewers of today’s Science Talk an understanding of these fascinating groups of celestial objects with terrific images and entertaining commentary. He will also bring a fragment of a real asteroid on site.

You can also listen to this Science Talk live in person in the Deep Space 8K. Find more information here. Attendees will also be able to view and touch an asteroid fragment.
