Device Art

“Device Art” is an art form that merges art, design, technology, science and entertainment. The resulting creations deploy innovative materials and techniques to engender contrivances featuring elaborate, whimsical design conceived to bring us face-to-face with technology’s essence. In “Device Art”, the device itself is the content; its form and appearance are inseparable from its function.

Android-Human Theater "Sayonara"

The amazing android-theatre Sayonara has been written for two actors by Hiroshi Ishiguro together with Oriza Hirata, one of them being human, the other one an android. It is not told who is who, a puzzle to be solved by the audience.

Telenoid

Telenoid, the latest robot to emerge from Dr. Hiroshi Ishiguro’s R&D lab, followed in the footsteps of its robotic twin Geminoid that created quite a stir at the Ars Electronica Center in 2009.

Robotinity Exhibition

How can a person’s unique personality and essential character traits be captured, simulated and imparted to a robot?

Murata Boy & Girl

Murata Boy is a bicycle-riding robot. Murata Girl is a unicycle specialist who’s equally adept riding forward and in reverse. The Futurelab’s Research & Innovation Group created the educational and European premium tour design at the Ars Electronica Center.
