With this workshop we investigate the structures behind algorithmic decision making systems, discuss why their design is normative, and how AI systems reinforce structural discrimination.
We embark on a speculative journey and discuss how to design to create a more just world. Which artists inspire us? Which values are important to us? We want to collect our thoughts and creative outputs in a zine.

Registered participants will receive the link to join the workshop. The workshop is held via Zoom. Biography

Nushin Isabelle Yazdani is an interaction and transformation designer, artist and researcher. Her work is concerned with the connections between technology and social justice, AI and discrimination from an intersectional, feminist perspective. In the Education Innovation Lab Nushin works on the transformation of the education system and the development of innovative learning methods. She is a lecturer, member of dgtl fmnsm and the Design Justice Network. She curates and organizes community events at the Interface of technology, art and design.

Internet Teapot by Karla Zavala and Adriaan Odendaal is a design studio in Rotterdam that focuses on speculative and critical design projects and research. Karla Zavala is a designer and digital project manager from Peru, specialized in UX, QA and communication. She has a BA in Communication for Social Development from the University of Lima and an MA in Media Arts Cultures from the University of Aalborg.

Adriaan Odendaal is a multimedia designer and web developer from South Africa. He holds a BA in Visual Studies and Sociology from the University of Stellenbosch and recently received an MA in Media Arts Cultures from the University of Aalborg.
