(Linz, January 13, 2023) As of today, entries for the Prix Ars Electronica are once again open. The winners can look forward to the prestigious Golden Nicas, several thousand euros in prize money and prominent appearances at the 2023 Ars Electronica Festival.

Year after year, the Prix Ars Electronica offers inspiring and forward-looking insights into the interface between art, technology and society. The world’s longest-standing media art competition was launched in 1987 and is considered one of the most important international awards for creativity and pioneering spirit in its field.

Four categories, one of them new
In each of the four categories Artificial Intelligence & Life Art, Digital Musics & Sound Art, u19 – create your world and New Animation Art, a Golden Nica and prizes of up to 10,000 euros are up for grabs. New Animation Art is a new category in 2023. This category honors forward-looking animations at the interface between new technological possibilities of visualization and new forms of communication, for example in the course of social media.

Isao Tomita Special Prize
To commemorate Isao Tomita and his creative spirit, TOMITA information Hub and the Prix Ars Electronica are jointly offering a special prize of 5,000 euros this year as the second edition – in parallel with the biennial Golden Nica award in the Digital Musics & Sound Art category.

Submissions until March 3
Entries for the Prix Ars Electronica open on January 13, 2023, and the deadline for submission is March 3, 2023. Participation in the competition is free of charge. The winners will be announced at a press conference at the end of June, and their winning works will be presented to a broad audience at the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz in September 2023.
