All digital images, like the graphics in video games or those taken by telescopes in space, are made up of many tiny elements called ‘pixels’. The higher the number of pixels in an image, the higher the quality of the image itself. In this activity, pupils explore the basics of geometric components of images, including pixels, and learn about their scientific and artistic relevance through the creation of pixel artwork. Pupils are also introduced to a number of art techniques which use geometric components to create an image.
