“I applied as part of the “AUSTROMIR” project and was selected to move to Russia to train as a cosmonaut. This training lasted 2 years and 5 months before the launch I was selected for the first flight crew and then had a space flight to the Mir space station in 1991 from October 2nd to 10th to carry out scientific experiments there,” says Franz Viehböck, astronaut.
