Have you always wanted to see a real rocket launch and have some time on 04.04.? Then be sure to stop by the CanSat launch – this year we have 13 teams in the CanSat Austria competition and therefore even 2 launches!
This year, 13 teams are still in the running – thus, on April 4, 2024, for the first time in the history of the CanSat Austria competition, 2 rocket launches will take place!
All interested individuals of all ages are warmly welcome! The event will take place at Flugplatz Schärding-Suben (Etzelshofen 60, 4975 Suben).
In the CanSat competition, students go through all phases of a real space project: from mission selection and building a mini-satellite to rocket launch and scientific analysis of the data obtained! Soft skills such as teamwork and interdisciplinary thinking are also actively trained. The winning team will have the opportunity to participate in the Space Engineer for a Day Event at ESA‘s ESTEC in the Netherlands!
A real rocket launch at a national CanSat competition is indeed something special – not every ESA member state has a real rocket transporting the CanSats into the air. Thanks to the immense support from the TU Wien Space Team, Austria hosts a real rocket flight every year!
