Rückkehr zum Mond – das Artemis Programm

For teachers of secondary level I and II

On December 14, 1972, Apollo astronaut Eugene Cernan was the last man to leave the moon. In total, twelve American astronauts had landed on our neighbor in space. Since then, no man has set foot on the moon. Together with international partners, NASA and ESA are planning a manned return to the moon in the coming years. The goal of the so-called ARTEMIS program is to land astronauts on the moon again for the first time since Apollo 17, including a woman for the first time. Subsequently, manned lunar landings will take place annually, and a space station called Gateway will also be built in lunar orbit. This advanced training will report on the development and current status of the ARTEMIS program to land mankind on the Moon again. Specifically, the presentation of the content provides an opportunity to explain a variety of physical phenomena in an applied manner and to make current references to the curriculum.

Objectives of this in-service training:

  • Current information on ARTEMIS, Orion and Gateway.
  • Up-to-date information about the future plans especially of the European Space Agency ESA.
  • Getting to know teaching materials and their use in the classroom.
