With 1,759 visitors from 6 PM to 1 AM, the Ars Electronica Center was one of the top attractions of this year’s Long Night of the Museums in Linz. On Saturday, October 4, 2014 throughout Austria, a single ticket was all it took to gain admission to a host of museums, galleries and other institutions. Culture vultures could fly through the entire Museum of the Future including Deep Space, which offered breathtaking high-definition screenings every half hour until the wee hours.
Exploring the world with a (digital) pen—visitors to the GeoPulse exhibition took a high-tech approach to conceptioneering the city of the future.
Since its vernissage in September, the Device Art exhibition has offered offbeat visions of everyday objects.

A bird’s-eye view of the Long Night of the Museums: night owls in Deep Space were deeply impressed by 3-D visualizations of the Earth.
Star photographer Lois Lammerhuber was on hand to personally present his latest gigapixel images. This time, his viewfinder was trained on Paris.
And the lucky individual who guessed the size of Ravensburger’s “World’s Largest Jigsaw Puzzle” became the proud owner of this 32,000-piece pastime. (Answer: more than 10 square meters)

Of course, there were lots of fun activities designed with kids in mind: young artisans and craftswomen could assemble Blinkys and then take their colorful creations home with them.
A special tour enabled visitors to experience a Night at the Museum up-close-and-personal—for instance, here in the Main Gallery where the lighting was adjusted accordingly. See ya again next year at the Long Night!
