Safety first, that’s why you need a helmet. Grab an iPad to record, or use one of the provided fieldrecorders

The workshops of the Klangwolke are not only about making music or edit sounds, they are also about experiencing various rooms and surroundings, not by the means that we use most, namely our eyes, but through what we hear.

A small part of the voestalpine facility

You’ll have to chances to make a tour around the facilites of the voestalpine in Linz and record what’s going on in such a big industrycompound. You’ll see various locations, all of which are one step in the process of producing stainless steel.

That’s the final product, weighting tons, kilometers of steel are rolled up

After the walk, the recorded material will be taken from the voestalpine to the SoundLab at the Ars Electronica Center, where Marco Palewicz (AT) is going to show you how to edit the recordings into Klangwolke Miniatures, which will be part of the event on September 1 and will be the stars of September 2.

Marco Palewicz and Chris Bruckmayr are happy with the first impressions and are looking forward to the SoundWalks!

If there’s any industrial in your veins, you can’t miss out on this one. If you wanna join in, head to ars.electronica.art/klangwolke/en/termine.
