This panel discussion brings together artists who collaborated within the Horizon Europe XR project, SHARESPACE. Each artist has created innovative projects for the Deep Space 8K environment exploring collaboration between humans and avatars in shared hybrid spaces, blending physical and virtual realities. The conversation will center on XR art, shedding light on the unique artistic concepts and creative processes that lie behind each artist’s work.

Peter Power
Peter Power is a transdisciplinary writer, visual artist, composer, sound designer and director from Waterford, Ireland. He holds a degree in biochemistry and a master’s in composition. He is Artistic Director of the award-winning Sparsile Collective, creating post-disciplinary works. He is an Associate Artist of BETA festival and outgoing Artist-in-Residence of Cork Midsummer Festival, National Sculpture Factory and other international residencies.

Leon Butler
Leon Butler
Leon Butler is an artist working at the intersection of art and technology. His work has been recognised by the Type Directors Club, 100 Archive, Digital Media Awards, and more. Recent projects include Imagined Islands, Dwelling, Performance Surveillance, and Emperor 101. He has shown work nationally and internationally, receiving commissions from Arts Council, European Media Arts Platform, and Science Gallery.

Patrick Berger
After completing his masters of multi media art in Salzburg, Patrick Berger began his career as a drone show animator at Futurelab. He specialized in working with swarms, developing workflows to animate both aerial drones and ground robots. Later on his projects evolved to include experimental and storytelling VR applications, participatory creation tools, 3D Stereo Experiences for immersive spaces and currently Converge 2, an refinement of a contribution to the EU-funded Project SHARESPACE.

Cyntha Wieringa
Cyntha Wieringa is a Reseacher & Artist at the Ars Electronica Futurelab. With a background in Science & Technology Studies she likes to navigate the topic of social implications of new (technological) innovations. The last few years at the Futurelab, she has mostly been active in XR-research projects.
