Creative R&D has emerged as a distinct domain integrating artistic experimentation, technological innovation, and cross-sector collaborations, yet its role in anticipating and shaping policy remains largely unrecognized. Drawing from the insights of Future Art Ecosystems 5: Art x Creative R&D and a decade of experimental art and advanced technologies (AxAT) projects, this talk examines how creative practitioners function as society’s sensing apparatus—identifying emerging transformations and testing new approaches.
