Drag Intervention

create your world (AT), c3 (HU), mb21 (DE), Only Tomorrow Association (RO)

What is a man? What is a woman? What is a person?

Questions like these appear somewhat present in our current times, although there are no definite answers. Humanity becomes increasingly aware that gender norms and stereotypes are, well, just that. In the meantime, the art form of Drag equally blends the borders of gender and seemingly enrages people worldwide with its bare existence. Our intervention Handtaschenweitwurf is a playfully orchestrated middle finger to all those who cling to this narrow mindset. We want to throw away all those repressive attributions and restrictive expectations—symbolically written on purses and handbags.

  • Mary Mayrhofer

Mary Mayrhofer, born in 2002, grew up in the Mühlviertel region before moving to the seemingly utopian world of the city of Linz at the age of eleven. There she discovered her deep interest in artistic expression, activism, and people. In 2022, Mayrhofer won the u19 Golden Nica with The Black Blanket, a work addressing depression, and has returned to the festival every year since. This year, the social worker and aspiring arts and ethics teacher curated the Youth Exchange Program.
