On our guided tour through the Theme Exhibition PANIC: Complex. Absurd. Ominous. we encounter the many facets of fear and panic in today’s society—visualized by artists and technologists. The exhibition challenges what truly frightens us. Could panic, contrary to popular belief, be a positive force? The exhibition is structured around eight chapters and three key reflections: “Complex,” explores panic as a fragmented multitude—often triggered by technological progress, yet equally shaped by political, economic, and social forces; “Absurd,” discusses panic as a tool of manipulation—one that creates chaos and neutralizes responses, but also serves as a disruptive element capable of breaking entrenched patterns of thought; and “Ominous,” describes panic as a threat lurking beneath the surface, a force that paralyzes—yet paradoxically reveals the urgency of confronting our own fragility in order to imagine alternative futures.
