As our world reshapes, who do we choose to become—alongside other creatures, self-driving tech, and AI—who do we choose to become? Future Humanity Open Research Talk explores creative questions about Future Humanity with experts and invites visitors into the process of ongoing research.

At the Ars Electronica Festival 2025, Ars Electronica Futurelab and Toyota Motor Corporation Advanced R&D and Engineering Company are launching an open research platform to bring together artists, researchers, businesses, governments, and educational groups for wide-ranging teamwork.

    Airí Dordas Perpinyà

    Airí is a designer with 13+ years of experience in communication and social innovation, focused on fostering a more equitable society. She currently leads the Synthetic Memories project at Domestic Data Streamers, exploring data, AI, storytelling, memory, identity, and social rights. Previously, she was a service designer and activist at The Care Lab for six years, addressing care system inequalities. In 2017, she was key in Casa Nostra Casa Vostra, a major refugee rights campaign. She also worked in strategic communications for brands like SEAT and Bayer. She holds degrees in Advertising and Communication Strategy.

    Jiabao Li

    Jiabao Li is an artist, professor, and founding director of the Ecocentric Future Lab. Her work explores climate change, interspecies co-creation, humane technology, and perception. In her TED Talk, she examined how technology shapes our reality. Her work has shown at MoMA, Venice Biennale, and SIGGRAPH, and she was named Forbes China 30 Under 30.

    Misako Kawata

    Misako Kawata is a designer at Toyota Motor Corporation’s Advanced Design Division. She previously worked on exterior design in the Lexus Design Division until 2024. Today, she is involved in developing next-generation mobility that blends naturally into everyday life and supports a more inclusive society.

    Takashi Nishimura

    Takashi Nishimura is a designer in Toyota Motor Corporation’s Advanced Design Division. Leveraging a decade of automotive UX and industrial‑design experience, he crafts the design visions and strategies that underpin Toyota’s transition into a mobility company and develops next‑generation mobility experiences.

    Kyoko Kunoh

    From her base in Japan, Kyoko Kunoh is involved in various research and cultural projects of Ars Electronica. She has created numerous artworks in the field of interactive art and works across a wide range of fields, including directing in the public and commercial space, designing exhibition products, and participating in joint projects with companies and universities. Her projects have been featured in many international venues, including Ars Electronica (Austria) and the Centre Pompidou (France) .
