Families cycling along the Danube Bike Path in Upper Austria will be in hot pursuit of solutions to tricky puzzles this summer. Lots of fun is in store for parents and kids age 6 and up taking part in this Puzzle Tour modeled on a scavenger hunt. Smart cyclists can solve various puzzles by entering their answers via an app (available for Android and Apple) or via ink on paper with an analog answer sheet. Whoever presents the right solutions at the end of the tour wins a little prize.
This puzzle tour along the Danube Bike Path is divided into three short journeys of discovery that explore the World of the Danube. At the point of departure of each of the three segments, there’s a board displaying useful information for contestants: Segment 1 round about the Haus am Strom in Untergriesbach takes cyclists into the world of the Danube nymph, Isa vom Jochenstein; the next portion of the puzzle rallye proceeds from the Haus am Strom to Mini-Donau, a Danube experience in Engelhartszell; and the third leg of the journey is a trip back in time—to Antiquity and the Romans who established themselves at a big bend in the river in Schlögen. On July 6, 2015, Segment 1 round about the Haus am Strom was tested by elementary school pupils from Engelhartszell, who gave rave reviews to the new puzzle tour along Central Europe’s great river!
The Danube Puzzle Tour was developed by Werbegemeinschaft Donau Oberösterreich in cooperation with Ars Electronica Solutions and Oberösterreich Tourismus.
