CompactDays

A feature that debuted at the 2017 Ars Electronica Festival has since become a popular attraction at every Wacker Neuson company event—using a brain-computer interface and eye-tracking technology to operate a six-ton earthmover.

For high-tech enthusiasts, this installation was one of the highlights of CompactDays at Wacker Neuson’s headquarters in Hörsching, Austria April 6-7, when guests could take an interactive journey through the world of earthmovers, do some intensive Q&A with staffers, experience the cockpit of a piece of heavy-duty construction equipment, and lots more.

Thanks to this unique form of collaboration between Wacker Neuson and Ars Electronica Solutions, visitors to CompactDays could link up to a brain-computer interface and eye-tracking system, and utilize them to operate the earthmover prototype that has been upgraded and enhanced since the Festival.
