CODE – Centre of Digital Experience was launched as part of the “European Capital of Culture” Veszprém-Balaton 2023 programme and will open at the end of February 2025 as a new digital centre for art and science.
The aim is to uncover new avenues for experience-orientated cultural engagement and digital education. Ars Electronica Solutions developed a Deep Space and other innovative installations for this purpose.
CODE is an innovative institution for the presentation of constantly changing digital content in the former cultural centre of Veszprém County (HU). This visual institution introduces visitors to new dimensions of digital art. It is not just an exhibition space, but a unique experience centre where art, science and technology come together.
The world’s greatest masterpieces, the mysteries of the human body and the wonders of our diverse world are brought to life through cutting-edge audiovisual technology. In addition, CODE serves as a creative centre, acting as a regional hub for creativity and providing a new artistic platform for both Hungarian and international creative minds.
As one of the flagship projects of ECOC 2023, CODE is making a significant contribution to repositioning Veszprém and the entire Bakony-Balaton region as a cultural and creative centre. A central element is the digital immersive shows, which surround visitors with impressive audiovisual experiences and offer both entertaining and educational content.
In addition, digital and analogue installations will be presented on the ground floor to expand and deepen the digital experience. In addition, the Studio, an immersive space based on the Deep Space concept, will enable interactive presentations.
The studio in CODE will be the sixth deep space outside Linz. Other locations are already in China, Mexico, Switzerland and Croatia.
CODE is a unique place in Veszprém that combines culture, technology and science in a new and fascinating way.
