At this year’s festival, Deep Sea brought the most important aspects of the two-year exhibition to the Ars Electronica Deep Space . Nils Sparwasser, the consulting curator of the exhibition “Planet Ocean” at the Gasometer Oberhausen, dived into the world of the oceans with unique photographs and images from the exhibition
and revealed the secrets, problems and challenges associated with the ocean. In addition, Ars Electronica Solutions presented the beauty and fascination of the oceans to visitors with a 3D deep space adaptation of its artistic creation The Wave.
We know more about the far side of the moon than we do about our own oceans.
Deep Sea aims to change that a little.
Since 15 March, Europe’s highest exhibition hall, the Gasometer Oberhausen, has been taking visitors on a journey into the fascinating depths of the world’s oceans with its new permanent exhibition.
The highlight of the exhibition is The Wave: a projection covering over 1,000 square metres, on which lifelike animations from the mysterious world of the sea are brought to life. With this artistic creation, Ars Electronica Solutions seeks to offer viewers a completely new perspective, taking us beneath the surface of the ocean, revealing the underlying beauty and hidden magic of the underwater world and allowing us to get up close and personal with life-size sea creatures such as humpback whales.
