Deep Space Zagreb

A Journey Through Space at the Croatian Natural History Museum

The Croatian Natural History Museum (Hrvatski prirodoslovni muzej) in Zagreb captivates its visitors with a new, state-of-the-art attraction: the Deep Space, developed in close collaboration between Smart AudioVisualand Ars Electronica Solutions. Inspired by the original in Linz, the Deep Space offers an immersive and interactive journey through the universe, where science and cutting-edge technology merge in fascinating ways.

Although the Deep Space in Zagreb is smaller than its counterpart in Linz, it provides a comparable and impressive experience in terms of innovation and interactivity. At its core is Uniview, an advanced 3D visualization tool that takes visitors on a breathtaking journey through the universe, revealing the secrets of our solar system in an exciting and visually stunning manner. This immersive technology makes science tangible and presents complex content in an engaging and accessible way for a broad audience.

The new Deep Space serves not only as a place of wonder but also as an important center for science communication, bridging the gap between complex scientific topics and public interest. Here, science comes to life, and learning at the Croatian Natural History Museum becomes an adventure, delivering knowledge in captivating and interactive ways.

In addition to the new Deep Space, the Croatian Natural History Museum also features another 4,806 exhibits from 122 collections across four floors. Following an extensive renovation and expansion, with a €31.6 million investment funded by the EU, the city of Zagreb, and the Republic of Croatia, the museum now boasts modern exhibition spaces, laboratories, a café, and a gift shop. The restored Amadeo Palace blends traditional architecture with contemporary technology, making the museum a cultural hub for an exciting journey through nature.
