Observer is an XR interactive installation that features a collection of four satellites. It takes visitors on an immersive journey into the world of real-time environmental information collected by micro satellites. The installation features well-crafted scaled replicas, elegantly simulating their elliptical orbit through space. Visitors are presented with insights into the technical operations and gathered scientific data. The project is designed

experience and as an invitation for viewers to playfully engage with the presented information. Through this approach, the installation aims to bring attention to pressing environmental issues, encouraging visitors to engage with open-source data.

Hua Yang (CN)

Hua Yang is a professor at the School of Creative Arts, ShanghaiTech University, and executive director of the Intelligent Virtual Design Laboratory (DIV Lab). She graduated from the Peter Behrens School of Architecture and Design, Dusseldorf University of Applied Sciences, Germany, majoring in Information Media. She is a registered designer in Germany. Her main research areas include user experience, interaction design, and new media art. With many years of experience in university education, she has cultivated students to work in well-known domestic internet companies specializing in user research and interaction design. Her personal artworks have been exhibited worldwide and have received multiple international awards in the field of digital media.

Uwe Reiger (DE)

Uwe Rieger is founder and head of the arc/sec Lab for Cross Reality Architecture and Interactive Systems. He is an associate professor of Design and Design Technology at the University of Auckland and has worked as architect and researcher in the field of Reactive Architecture for over 20 years. Uwe has exhibited and developed projects for international institutions such as: the Ars Electronica Centre in Austria, the Museum of Modern Art Barcelona (MACBA) in Spain, the Venice Architecture Biennale in Italy, the World EXPO and the International Building Exhibition IBA in Germany, the National Museum of Indonesia, and Te Papa Tongarewa, the National Museum of New Zealand.

Yinan Liu (NZ)

Yinan Liu received a MArch(Prof)(Hons) degree from the University of Auckland. She is the lead technologist at the arc/sec Lab and coordinator of the Digital Research Hub at the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of Auckland. Yinan is co-founder of arc/sec Solutions ltd., which develops customized applications for cross-reality environments and interactive systems.

Ziqiang Huang (CN)

Ziqiang Huang, designer, specialized in new media exhibition design and development, including projection art, interactive installations, immersive spaces and virtual production.

Hongsheng Gao (CN)

Hongsheng Gao has extensive project experience and research in various aspects of digital media and graphic design. He specializes in visual design and image design in the 3D field, as well as proposing creative solutions.

Hengwei Ye (CN)

Hengwei Ye is a computer science student specializing in game development at Shanghai Tech University. He stands as the first graduate from the SCA with a minor in interaction design, and continually seeks innovation at the intersection of gaming and technology.

Yutao Ming (CN)

Yutao Ming’s body grows huge in a rough way, but this does not prevent him from being sensitive to the world. An electrontics engineering major, with a minor in interaction design. He enjoys doing things that can express emotions and thoughts. He is furthermore a professional game maker, video editor, painter, screenwriter and professional ice cream eater.
