Topic group: FUTURE MATERIALS AND DESIGN

The blending of the ancient craft of origami with cutting-edge robotics, represents a harmonious union of tradition and innovation in an age marked by quick technological advancements. Through mechanical transformation, the static forms in this exhibition come to life, capturing the fleeting nature of time. With its deep historical roots, origami is a testament to the limitless creativity of mankind, transforming ordinary sheets of paper into intricate, three-dimensional works of art. It has captured people’s attention throughout history because of how straightforward and transformative it is. A fascinating dance between tradition and technology is currently taking place as robotics gives these static creations movement.

The featured robots elevate the art with unmatched precision, going beyond simple human-touch replication. They give origami a sense of temporal dynamism, causing paper structures to change and evolve in previously unfathomable ways. However, the evolution goes beyond just technique. We are on the verge of redefining origami’s fundamental principles as a result of the exploration of new materials. Imagine a structure that can adapt to its challenging environment as well as expand and contract in the void of space. As innovative, resilient, and adaptable materials are incorporated into this form of expression, possibilities expand beyond aesthetics and provide long-lasting and useful applications.

As visitors traverse the exhibition, they will embark on a multidimensional journey that redefines this art’s boundaries. Future Folds: Origami Reimagined is a narrative of human creativity, the relentless spirit of innovation, and the untapped potentials that await at the intersection of heritage, technology, and material science.
