With the advent of “artificial intelligence“, several philosophical questions arise at once. What actually is creativity and where does it come from? Is AI just a tool that is given orders to achieve certain goals? Or can it even inspire us and enter into a dialog with us? And after all the knobs and sliders in traditional “creative” programs: Won’t we become dissatisfied if we don’t even know what is really happening in this “black box” of AI, and we lose control over what comes out of it? At the AI Lab Conference Day at the 2021 Ars Electronica Festival, visual artist Davide Quayola, sound artists Paola Torres Núñez del Prado and Leslie Garcia talk with Ali Nikrang, Key Resarcher Ars Electronica Futurelab. “AIxMusic” kicked off with introductory remarks by Gerfried Stocker, Artistic Director of Ars Electronica, and Olga Sismanidi of Creative Europe of the European Commission.
