Elektro Guzzi deliver in one fell swoop one of the most fascinating realizations for live techno and at the same time one of the biggest innovative leaps of the concept “band” in recent years. Equipped only with guitar, bass and drums, they assemble from the most unusual playing techniques a direct physical overall sound that is as multifaceted as it is stringent.
For more than ten years they have been playing their unique kind of hypnotic dance music at festivals and clubs all over the world. For their upcoming album TRIP (their first trio album since 2017), they return to their roots: techno created in the moment. Through their impulsive interplay, they create an energetic and unique form of dance music. These tracks make it hard to believe that this music was recorded live and without overdubs. TRIP was originally scheduled for release in the fall of 2020. When it became clear that normal concerts and touring would not be possible for an extended period of time, Elektro Guzzi decided to postpone the album’s release.
With a new focus on real-time instrument interaction, TRIP’s tracks feel more direct than ever before and come very close to the sound and energy of their live concerts.
The pre-release show took place on June 2, 2021 at the Ars Electronica Center’s Deep Space 8K.
