In “dBlech”, a metal plate with a reflective surface is excited and made to vibrate by means of sound transducers controlled by an audio signal. The signal is thus audible through the plate, and its material properties have a direct effect on the sound characteristics. The surface is deformed, whereby the  the transverse waves become visible in the reflection. If a spotlight is directed at the mirror plate, these so-called “standing waves” can be observed in the light reflection.
