JEF MONTES CATWALK FASHION SHOW WCFS18

Marinero – Tailored by Weather

Inspired by the contrast between the beauty of the sea and its pollution by plastic, Jef Montes has developed a sustainable production system for “adaptive clothing.” Plastic waste from the sea, shrinking yarns, seaweed, and other natural materials are processed into threads.

The blueprint for the various designs is a square woven from these threads, which organically changes its shape depending on weather conditions such as rain, strong winds, or drought. The combination of different threads creates friction, resulting in the dynamic forms of the individual designs.

Marinero embodies the principles of sustainable fashion by eliminating traditional cutting and tailoring techniques and utilizing all materials without waste. This innovative production system creates adaptive garments that grow individually with their wearers.
