Wed 13. Nov 2024 18:00 – 20:00
Ars Electronica Center

How do our actions influence the global cycle of nature? How can we take responsibility together to preserve the delicate balance? And how can we develop empathy for our planet? On November 13, 2024, the Ars Electronica Center, in cooperation with the Austrian Climate and Energy Fund, will open the exhibition “Connected Earth”, which addresses the interdependence of various factors in our global ecosystem on Earth.

Admission free!

In 2021, the Ars Electronica Centre presented the exhibition “There is No Planet B” together with the Austrian Climate and Energy Fund, with a focus on alternatives to energy supply. Three years later, the climate crisis remains unresolved, climate targets have still not been met and both governments and civil society need to develop a deeper awareness of the urgency. So the debate continues!

In November 2024, the Ars Electronica Center – once again in cooperation with the Austrian Climate and Energy Fund – will open an exhibition, this time entitled “Connected Earth”, which explores the impressive interactions of natural systems. The title verbalises the basic idea of the exhibition: everything on earth is connected.

This can be seen not only in the man-made infrastructures – the social, political, economic and technological networks – but above all in the complex ecosystems of our planet. Every living creature, every plant and every element is part of the fragile balance of planet Earth.

With “Connected Earth”, we are presenting an exhibition that sheds light on the principle of interdependence in nature. With an inquisitive eye and an open attitude, we explore the natural systems that connect life and its foundations and keep them in balance.

The exhibition presents artistic positions that open up new perspectives and situate science and technology in a holistic view of the world. “Connected Earth” also invites visitors to recognise and reflect on their own role in this fascinating interplay of science and technology.

How do our actions influence the global cycle of nature? How can we take responsibility together to preserve the delicate balance? And how can we develop empathy for our planet?

Using art as a medium, the exhibition offers a multi-layered approach to these questions and invites visitors to engage in a lasting, in-depth dialogue with interactive works.
