By the end of the century, Alpine glaciers are expected to lose 91% of their surface area and 94% of their volume. With the help of generative AI, participants in Schmilz, Schmilz, Baby! can develop future scenarios that embody a happy collapse attitude and a radical acceptance of climate change, in which optimism rather than panic is the central focus.

Schmilz, Schmilz, Baby! is a thought-provoking campaign by the activist artist group Aggro Climate that addresses the melting of glaciers in Austria. The tipping point of glacier melt in Austria has already been reached, which is why we are aiming for the end of the ice age in about 40 to 45 years. At Aggro Climate’s workshop installation, visitors can brainstorm about the time after that and what we can do with all the space when the glaciers have already melted.
