La Grande Odalisque is an oil painting from 1814 by the French painter Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres.
In contrast to painters like Eugène Delacroix, Ingres was celebrated as a custodian of tradition, but his works were already oriented towards modernism. The original painting of an undressed woman in the role of an odalisque is on display at the Louvre. Here at the Deep Space you can experience a high-resolution photograph taken in collaboration with the photographer Lois Lammerhuber.
