Roads to Rome deals with one of the greatest mysteries of mobility: do all roads really lead to Rome?

moovel lab is a research team whose work revolves around data, design, and infrastructure. Roads to Rome deals with one of the greatest mysteries of mobility: do all roads really lead to Rome? In this project, the saying is understood as a suggestive statement about mobility. This visualization of infrastructure data poses the question of how our patterns of mobility shape our surroundings and vice versa. Using a specially created algorithm, a route to Rome was calculated from each of 486,713 starting points all over Europe. The more often a road is used, the thicker the line is on the map.
