As in fashion, where physical appearance becomes a form of self-expression, the The Alternative Limb Project sees the possibilities of prosthetics as an expansion of the personality of the wearers. It is defined not by absence but by transformation.
The project combines the latest technology with traditional craftsmanship to promote discussion about disabilities and celebrate the diversity of the body. This presentation shows photos of three custom prosthetic designs and a behind-the-scenes video about the collaborative design of three prosthetic arms. The new prosthetic finger project AltDigits is also on display: a tailor-made finger with innovative aesthetics and functionality.
