NeXus Open Research explores future Extended Reality (XR) technologies, using scenario-based design to dive into the future of print. It envisions applications through detailed narratives, focusing on XR technologies at the nexus of co-creation.
NeXus Open Research is a collaboration between Dai Nippon Printing (DNP) and the Ars Electronica Futurelab. The project investigates how Extended Reality (XR) can innovate the future of print. Given print’s historical role in communication and knowledge sharing across distances and time, we are researching how XR’s digital features can enhance these functions.
At the Ars Electronica Festival 2024, visitors engaged with current XR technology to explore research questions and shape future scenarios. “NeXus Forum: Towards Future-Oriented XR” featured a panel discussion with experts on XR’s current applications and future potential, focusing on its impact on experiences, industries, and society. The open research aims to incorporate diverse social perspectives into the development of a future prototype.
