Using the non-contact process of photogrammetry, researchers of the Ars Electronica Futurelab carefully translated one of the Schaunberg tombs from the collegiate church of Wilhering into a virtual object in order to turn it into an immersive 3D cultural experience in Deep Space 8K. The colossal format creates insights into high-resolved details that can no longer be perceived in their original form and thus can be made accessible to scientists from all parts of the world.
Profiles of white and red marble, unusual depictions of saints and plenty of unsolved mysteries: the tomb of 13th-century Schaunberger Wernhard IV from the Wilhering Collegiate Church has been digitized by the Ars Electronica Futurelab and Digilithic following its restoration and can now be examined in detail in 3D in the Deep Space 8K.
