Biz 2020 – Intro Ars Electronica Center

In this intro we'll introduce the Ars Electronica Center, the Museum of the Future, as an event location. We'll chat about the various event venues the Museum has to offer and talk about the newly founded Future Thinking School - a workshop and education program for companies and groups.

Inside Ars Electronica Solutions: Focus on the Economy

Michael Mondria (Senior Director) and Chris Bruckmayr (Head of Products & Events) will be demonstrating the working methods and philosophy of Ars Electronica Solutions on the basis of selected current projects.

Deep Space: Tikal - Develop the new and preserve the old

New technologies offer a whole range of possibilities for turning ideas into reality and saving cultural assets for future generations: On the computer we can create, modify, archive and distribute our own creations. In Deep Space we virtually enter the ancient Mayan city of Tikal in Guatemala.

Global Shift - Setting off into a new world

Join us in the exhibition "Global Shift"! Here we deal with the many facets of global changes and upheavals. What does the new geography of the digital age look like? How do populations and their structures develop? What will our world look like in the future?

Concert: Igor Stravinsky's Firebird by Maki Namekawa and Dennis Russell Davies

Classical music at its finest awaits you with Maki Namekawa and Dennis Russell Davies, who will be performing Igor Stravinsky's Firebird in the complete, original ballet version, arranged from Stravinsky’s orchestral score, in the Ars Electronica Center's Piano Room on the Bösendorfer Imperial CEUS computer grand piano.

Science Talk: Digital identity of the future - opportunities and challenges

In this lecture, Dr. Rene Mayrhofer from the Institute of Networks and Security at JKU Linz will present the possibilities, chances and risks of digital identity cards on smartphones, discuss current developments and consider the next steps.

Deep Space: The Roman city of Carnuntum

The rebuilt ancient houses, the amphitheatres and the Carnuntinum Museum as Carnuntum's treasure house can now not only be visited on site - a virtual visit to the Roman quarter is also possible! And this is exactly where we take you in this Deep-Space-presentation!

Inside Futurelab: Our Social Forest – Non-verbal communions in the era of social distancing

With the corona virus in full swing, and the ensuing guidelines for social distancing, people have flocked to new technologies in order to keep communicating verbally and visually. However, video calls and social media still feel inadequate when it comes to conveying the complexity and intricacies of human communication. What's missing?

Tutorial: Programmable Materials – Paper

Everyone has seen how paper sucks up water. The reason for this is its hygroscopic property. Paper has the ability to absorb and bind moisture from its surroundings. This changes the dimension of the paper sheet: when paper gets wet, it expands and when it dries, it contracts again.

Deep Space Family: We play Beelzeball

Beelzeball channels the fervent energy of competitive sports such as football or squash with computer game elements inspired by classic games like Arkanoid and Snake. But rather than being a team sport, the focus here is entirely on competition; it’s every player for him or herself.

Führung: GPT-2 - The text writing AI

"GPT-2" is the name of a machine learning model with which the American research group OpenAI has developed a remarkably powerful language system. "GPT-2" is transformer-based, which is the name of a new approach to NLP (Natural Language Processing), in which the system also learns independently which words and parts of a text require more attention.

Deep Space: Game Changer Suite

The "Game Changer Suite" is a collection of multiplayer games, which were developed as prototypes by students of the FH OÖ Campus Hagenberg. The main focus of "Game Changer" is the exploration of cooperative and competitive gaming.

Deep Space: Tower of Power

Tower of Power draws its inspiration from the game classics Tetris and Bomberman, combining them into a team-based building race. After selecting a color (red or blue) by walking over one of the team bases on the left or right side of the floor projection, players can collect geometric shapes from the “source”, an area defined by particles in the middle of the screen.

Deep Space: Action now! Who's winning?

Full action is required in this Deep Space presentation! With its versatile program options, Deep Space offers plenty of opportunities to learn interesting facts in a playful way. In "Living Numbers", for example, we not only measure ourselves against each other, but also against virtual animals. Who jumps higher? Who runs faster?

At Home with… INTERVIEW WITH DEPART.AT

Home Delivery starts with a program on "local heroes" and questions the home: Especially in the last few months, the home has taken on a special significance. We present personalities around Ars Electronica Linz who live, work and work from Linz and the surrounding area. We'll start off with Manuela Naveau, the director of Ars Electronica Export, and the artist duo DEPART.

Augmented Reality Sandbox - Playing sand in a different way

A sandbox as a research environment: digging holes and piling up heaps of sand is not only a lot of fun, it also offers a first taste of geoscientific work thanks to 3D visualizations. Topographical contour lines are formed by playing and digging around in the sand, creating elevation color maps or simulated water via 3D projections.

Deep Space: Anatomy hall of the future

A unique anatomy room of the future is waiting for you! With the "Cinematic Rendering" program developed by Siemens Heltheneers, Deep Space 8K is transformed into an anatomical theater in which we can virtually immerse ourselves in the human body layer by layer.

AI meets Music

AI x Music is an exhibition about the encounter between Artificial Intelligence and music, as well as human creativity and technical perfection. Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence offer a multitude of possibilities for creative composition. Artists all over the world are already experimenting with them.
