Global resource consumption has tripled in the last 40 years! E-waste volumes in the EU have quadrupled! E-waste is the fastest growing source of waste. It has not yet been possible to separate economic growth from resource consumption.

According to the UN Global Resources Outlook 2019 study, 50% of global carbon emissions come from natural resource extraction and processing. The European Environment Agency says of the state of the environment in Europe 2020: A change of course is urgently needed to address climate change, halt environmental degradation and secure future prosperity.

The systemic shift from a linear to a circular economy carries the potential to reduce our resource consumption and thus also global warming to a human scale. Everyone can contribute to this: using products longer is an active contribution to climate protection!

In 2020, the speaker Sepp Eisenriegler published his anthology “The Circular Economy in the EU – An Interim Balance”. In addition to numerous awards (e.g. Energy Globe Award, Austrian Climate Protection Award and Environmental Award of the City of Vienna), he was awarded the Golden Decoration of Merit of the State of Vienna in 2014.
