Shiga is centered around the vast Lake Biwa, leading to historically limited road transportation and ongoing traffic congestion issues. To address this unique challenge, could reviving ancient waterway transportation offer a solution?

This map is a simulation conducted to measure the benefits of waterway transportation. It also considers the environmental impact of using hydrogen energy to preserve the beautiful waters of Lake Biwa.

Using this map, which envisions the region’s future ten years from now, national, prefectural and local stakeholders can engage in discussions to make informed decisions.
