    Mauricio Valdés San Emeterio is a distinguished composer, curator, and technologist, acclaimed for his work at the intersection of arts and sciences. With a specialized focus on the transdiciplinary applications of Spatial Audio, Mauricio has built a dynamic international career, marked by significant achievements in festival organization and production.
     
    Valdés’ involvement in curating began with impactful festivals such as El Callejón del Ruido (1996-2002), Cervantino, Festival de México, and Vértice (2012-13), extending through Instrumenta Oaxaca (2006-2012) and Ear-ZOOM (2010-2013). His leadership as the Music Chair at ICMC 2012 and his continued efforts in various other festivals like Sound (Dis)obedience and New Music Forum until 2023 illustrate his broad influence across the arts. He has worked extensively with governments, NGOs, and the private sector, enriching the cultural and artistic landscapes.
     
    Valdés’ collaborations traverse intermedia, stage art, and cinematic projects, including work with directors such as multi awarded Mikko Lehtinen. His integral role in the intersection of science, technology, and arts is evident in his participation in the EU program S+T+ARTS Air Project, where he mentored the majority of the residents, including notable artists like Antoine Bertin, Natan Sinigaglia, and Jonathan Reus.
     
    Since relocating to Slovenia in 2011, Valdés has become a pivotal figure in the evolution of digital and experimental arts. As the Artistic Director at the IRZU Institute, he co-founded UltraSonic-Audio LTD, serving as vice-president until 2013. Currently, he is the curator and head of R&D at the HEKA Art and Science Lab at PINA in Koper, Slovenia. Here, he manages KUBER, a unique immersive audio studio that integrates various technologies to enhance audio outputs, making it a versatile space for production, postproduction, and listening.
     
    Mauricio Valdés San Emeterio’s work has gained international acclaim, featured in over 20 countries and prestigious venues including a notable presentation at the Venice Artivism exhibition supported by the Auschwitz Institute in 2019. His career is adorned with a dozen international awards, underscoring his contributions to a broad spectrum of artistic expressions and his ability to bridge different disciplines and sectors.
