A Real-World Approach to Technology
“Ethics by Design” (EbD) is a proactive approach that integrates ethical considerations into every stage of the development process to minimize potential harm to humans, animals, and the environment. This approach is increasingly emphasized within European projects to ensure that ethical issues are not just an afterthought but central to the design and implementation of technologies and innovations.
EbD is a central approach in the SHARESPACE project to ensure the ethical development of future XR technologies. Within the framework of the project, researchers from deMontfort University developed “Good Enough Ethics” (GEE) built on ideas developed from “good enough parenting”, where perfection is not emphasized, but relationships are.
