Innovationshauptplatz—Laboratory of Optimism

Innovationshauptplatz (AT)

Tinkering with technology and media to create a vision of a better way of living together!

Discover the Laboratory of Optimism—a media and technology lab for children and young people where you can work with others on a vision for a better way of living together! Here you have the opportunity to be creative in an inspiring environment, to learn new skills and to exchange ideas with like-minded people about topics that are important to you.

In Laboratory of Optimism, we promote self-efficacy and optimism through creative technology projects. Participants build brush-head robots, program Arduino helpers, and design LED strip installations with optimistic messages. The project aims to show how technology can be used creatively and positively, boost children’s and young people’s confidence in their own abilities and encourage them to reflect on the positive aspects of modern technology. In this way, confidence in the use of media and technology is created.

The Innovationshauptplatz has been open since July 2, 2019. On the one hand, the Innovationshauptplatz der Stadt Linz takes its name from its location at Pfarrgasse 3, directly on Linz’s main square. On the other hand, it underlines its claim to be a hub for innovation projects in the Upper Austrian capital. Here you can find projects that go beyond start-ups, high-tech and the IT industry to touch all areas of urban life, from education and the environment to social issues and culture.
