The BOX 2.0

The potential benefits of utilising AI technology in healthcare are vast but there are important practical, technological, ethical, and legal implications that need to be addressed in order to safeguard patients. The BOX 2.0 exhibition invites the audience to experience the patient journey through an alternative hand surgery clinic where The BOX 2.0 makes the treatment plans.

The BOX 2.0 Will See You Now”: An Interactive Artwork Exploring the Use of AI in Medical Diagnostics

The BOX 2.0 is a two-meter black glossy cube whose surface is pierced by the impressions of the hands that were used to train its AI model. Putting a spotlight on the data that is used to build AI models, this installation takes visitors on an interactive journey through an alternative hand surgery clinic.

Acting as patients, their hands will be scanned, and then through a dynamic display, The BOX 2.0 will communicate to them what it has decided their treatment is going to be. Visitors are encouraged to touch “The BOX 2.0*’s walls and examine the diversity of hand types it contains and see if their hand “fits”.
