Welcome to 2024 Ars Electronica!

We look forward to welcoming you to the Ars Electronica Festival 2024

From September 4 to 8, 2024, Ars Electronica will once again host a festival for art, technology and society, to which experts from science, business, the creative and art scene from the region and around the world will contribute their perspectives.

This year’s theme “HOPE – who will turn the tide” is not a resigned statement, but a manifestation of the fact that there are indeed many reasons for hope, with a focus on who the driving forces are. At numerous venues and in various formats such as exhibitions, symposia, workshops, interventions and concerts, the aim is to put the spotlight on as many people as possible whose activities are the very concrete reason to have hope. The legendary POSTCITY will once again be the central venue for the Ars Electronica Festival. There will also be water dispensers in POSTCITY, so we recommend that you take a water bottle with you so that you can refill it again and again.

We have collected useful information about the festival and Linz to make your arrival and stay as smooth as possible:

The following cab companies operate 24 h/day in Linz: +43 732 6969 or +43 732 2244

For those who are new to Linz or want to discover unique places in the city of Linz: We would recommend the App “Visit-Linz-App” (Android/iOS) which helps to orientate yourself and shows you sights, restaurants, cafés, shopping facilities, etc.

Let’s talk about the weather

The weather in September is always very unpredictable and conditions range from scorching sun to pouring rain. The weather forecast and the Linz webcam can help you choose the right clothes for each day:  Ein Blick durch die Webcam auf Linz » Linz Tourismus

Currency & cash

The EURO (€) is the official currency in Austria.

A large number of ATMs at Linz central and throughout the city center provide you with cash 24 hours a day. National and foreign Maestro cards (ATM cards) are accepted for withdrawals. Other credit cards are national and foreign MasterCards, American Express cards, Visa credit cards and Diners cards. In some cases, Cirrus and Visa Plus Cash cards are also accepted.

Credit cards are accepted by numerous hotels, restaurants and stores. You can tell whether and which credit cards are accepted by the logos displayed on the outside of the respective store (usually on the entrance door).

Austrian opening hours

Please note that most Austrian stores are closed on Sundays. Only “SPAR” supermarket at the main train station is open daily from 6:00 to 23:00. Every gas station also offers drinks and snacks.

Trash heroes

Since we are a green event, please follow the instructions for waste separation! There are many different bins on the festival site. Please use them correctly and recycle your waste.   Please also do not throw garbage on the grounds and keep POSTCITY clean. Thank you very much!

Have you ever tried Austrian tap water?
