Ars Electronica Futurelab and Keio University SFC have jointly established an online lecture named “Artistic Journalism” as a literacy for the futures, starting in 2020. Futurelab’s director, Hideaki Ogawa, was invited to teach the experimental class from the Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria.
In an age of uncertainty and unpredictability, we believe that we need opportunities to not only consume information conveyed by traditional media and news, but also to think slowly and deeply, and to move swiftly into action.
Artists deal with science and technology, industry, city and social issues, and global issues, and express and explore various messages in their works and projects. In this class, we gave these actions the framework of Artistic Journalism and discussed the latest art, technology science, and society.
